Events
Perio in the Peninsula, Est. 2005
Established in 2005, Dr. Fritz hosts the Perio in the Peninsula Study Club. This study club has hosted more than 80 events across the Niagara Peninsula and has developed a powerful network of hygienists, dentists, dental assistants, dental administrators, nurses, scientists, academics, physicians, and dental specialists. While no two events have been alike, the program of Perio in the Peninsula study clubs are always designed to promote a collaborative learning experience with a patient-centric focus.
This year, we partnered with our friends at Niagara College, a leader in dental hygiene education in Canada, to include students and health care providers alike with the opportunity to access the most cutting-edge science and clinical frameworks.

Dental Aerosols; Where, When, How Much?!
presented by Dr. Amanda Longo
The global Covid-19 pandemic has drastically changed the way that clinicians and front-line health care workers have practiced. Dentistry is of no exception.
Join Amanda as she reviews the rationale, methods, and results of a study aimed to investigate the effect of both additional ventilation (+20 ACH) and the support of an assistant in the capture of aerosols during aerosol generating procedures (AGP) commonly performed in routine dental practice.
An understanding of the impact of ventilation and 4-handed dentistry would provide clinicians and policy makers with ample information to create and modify guidelines created to ensure the safety of both patients and clinicians in real world practice.

Science helps us solve problems. Art helps us cope with them.”
Paint a Paddle for ALS Canada Online Auction

Forced to postpone our Live event and adjust our course, we are thrilled with the final result of our Paint a Paddle for ALS Canada Online Auction!
In the end, over 220 one-of-a-kind paddle submissions were donated by our community and we auctioned off online over a full week in November 2020.
At final tally, over 95% of items were sold raising nearly $37,000 for our Niagara-chapter of ALS Canada!
This event merged art and science and was a showcase of the power of community! We want to thank all of those that made this event such a success – the artists, the organizers, the bidders, and the donors.
Thank you for your support and for the support of those in need.
By pulling together we forge ahead.
